This year’s event at WingHaven Country Club featured 26 teams battling for both a Professional Purse and a Team Purse using two best balls net, and 80% of the amateur’s handicaps. The weather was brutally hot, and so was the Bellerive team of Mike Tucker, Andy Frost, Jack Malloy and Tom Schneider.
Mike got off to a great start with an eagle on the first hole, and Tom Schneider solidified their victory with an ace on the Par 3 fifteenth hole. Congratulations, Tom and the Bellerive team. They finished with an outstanding team score of 23 under par total of 121. Well played gentlemen.
Finishing second was what we called the “hodge podge” team, consisting of the Gateway PGA Director, Josh Riley, Drew Santee from Sunset Hills CC, Roy Wilson from Whitmoor CC and Don Dupske from the Legends. They finished at 20 under pay 124.We had a log jam for third place, with three teams finishing at 125, including the Fox Run GC team of Jeff Field, Jeff Budrovich, Drew Sellenriek, and Robert Insalaco. Two teams from Westborough also tied for third, including Michael Wellington, Mark French, Michael Peterson, and Mick Wellington. The other Westborough team included Jim Miali, Pete Benoist, Tony Floretta, and John Moore. Great playing.
In the Pro Division, Bellerive’s Mike Tucker took the medalist honors with a 6 Under 66. Close behind was Bellerive’s Brandon Veld, with a 67, and Michael Wellington finished third with 68. Many thanks to Nathan Charnes, General Manager and Director of Golf at WingHaven, for hosting this great event. Venue was in great shape, lots of water and cold towels to keep the players cool, and great food at the conclusion of play.
