The 12th Annual Bob Cochran Mid-Am Championship at Fox Run Golf Club turned out to be
another beautiful hot summer day (except it was May 14th!). The field of 79 players teed it up
under perfect conditions on a golf course that was in tremendous condition. All the players
loved the condition of the course, though it played long, hard and fast.
This year’s champion is Ryan Schuenke, from Quincy Country Club, who shot a solid round of
two under par 70. Close behind was Drew Pranger (Glen Echo Country Club), carding a solid
71. Buddy Allen (Dalhousie Golf Club), Sam Migdal (Norwood Hills Country Club), and Ted
Moloney (Greenbriar Hills Country Club) all shot 72. Migdal and Moloney both had a chance to
tie or beat Schuenke as they came to the diabolical 18th hole, but could not make par to force a
playoff. Well played Ryan. All five of these players qualify for the season ending Jim Jackson
Invitational, at Algonquin Golf Club in October.
Because this tournament has both gross and net divisions, we award our gift certificates based
on the player’s best position for either gross or net. As a result, Moloney captured the first net
place, with Buddy Allen and Dan Emrick (Old Hickory Golf Club) finishing tied for second, and
Dan Kelley (Meadowbrook Country Club) finished fourth, beating Scott Lambert (Forest Hills
Country Club) in a scorecard playoff.
Many thanks to the entire team at Fox Run Golf Club, for once again hosting a great Cochran
Championship. And present to award the trophy to Schuenke was Bonnie Bence, Bob
Cochran’s daughter, who shared many stories about her dad.
