Wow! What a surprise! The Etzkorn Pro/3 Senior Championship resulted in another rain-shortened event at beautiful Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville. 26 teams teed it up in this year’s event, under sunny skies with little forecast of rain. That forecast changed dramatically in early afternoon, and the horn blew after all teams had completed at least 9 holes,
so the event resulted in another shortened tournament. The host team, consisting of Head Pro Jon Depriest, District Rep Vic Reznack, Ken Highlander and Greg Mullican, shot a 10 Under 62 to capture the traveling trophy for 2019.
Close behind was the Westwood team, consisting of Pro Brandon Coffey, Steve Weinstock, Ed Goldberg and Tom Kolbrenner, shot 63, and the Bellerive team of Director of Golf Mike Tucker, District Rep
Andy Frost, Tom Schneider and Pete Ramey shot 64 to capture third place.
In the Pro Division, Westborough’s Head Pro Jimmy Bals, shot a 4 Under 32 to capture medalist honors. Bellerive’s Brandon Veld and Etzkorn Team Pro Bobby Gaus shot 2 Under 34 to tie for the Runner Up position. Thanks to all who participated in the event. Special thanks to Jon DePriest and Nick Jones and staff, Vic Reznack, District Rep and Clubhouse Director Mario Nickolov and staff for their assistance with the rush of players coming in when play was suspended. Next year’s event will be held at TPC Scottsdale! With our luck, our event would coincide with the start of the desert Monsoon season out there!! Next up, the Griesedieck Men’s Championship at Algonquin Golf Club, July 18-21. Still plenty of room for registrations!
