Lake Forest Wins The Geiss

Forty teams teed it up on this crisp Spring Sunday, April 23rd, for this year’s opening event, the
Jack Geiss Two Man Championship at beautiful Sunset Country Club. While the conditions
were cool and breezy, there was some great golf played in both the Open Division, played from
6579 yards, while the Senior Division played at 6178 yards. This was the largest field ever for
this event.
In the Senior Division, 18 teams were represented. The CC of St. Albans team of Denny
Osborne and Joe Correnti shot a blazing 4 Under 68 to capture the honors in the Senior
Division. David Bremer and Paul Neeman from Persimmon Woods were runner up, with a 2
Under 70, and the Quincy CC team of Brad Eaton and John Ernst, finished third, at one under,
defeating the Glen Echo team of Jim Storey and Jeff Lulashnyk in a scorecard playoff. The
Osborne/Correnti team automatically earns a spot in the season ending Jim Jackson
Invitational.

The Open Division was comprised of 22 teams. And what a great event it was. Five teams
ended up shooting a 3 Under 69 and headed to Par 5 Tenth hole, where we started the day,
due to some early morning frost on the front Nine. The Lake Forest team of Erik Peyton and
Zach Holland prevailed with a birdie on the first playoff hole, to capture the championship. The
other four teams consisted of host club Sunset’s Zach Decker and Dan Greiner,
Meadowbrook’s Steve Shuert and Brett Meeske, Scott Lambert and David Kirkman from Forest
Hills, and Nick Eaker and Fabian Oechsle from Bogey Hills. All ten players earn an invite to the
Jim Jackson Invitational.

As always, many thanks to our team of volunteer Rules Officials, who spent all day out in the
crisp conditions. And a special thanks to Director of Golf, Ryan Johnson and his team for their
support in making this a great event.
