Bogey Hills Country Club’s David Schilp and David Schilp Jr. roared to a five-shot first-round lead and hung on to capture the 2026 Jim Benson Memorial 2-man Open Division Championship at Quincy Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 22. With fall suddenly arriving and driving the temperatures into the upper 60s, the Schilp duo survived a rugged second round to finish at 3-over 143 to win by three strokes.
In Monday’s opening Ryder Cup style (four ball) event, the elder Schilp set the pace with an eagle on Hole No. 1 and both players birdied Holes No. 2 and 6 to create momentum, eventually finishing at 5-under 65. In hot pursuit were 2025 runners-up Andrew Boudreaux and Ryan Schuenke (Quincy Country Club) at 3-under 67, and Didier Villard (WingHaven Country Club) and Steven Nahrup (Whitmoor Country Club) at 1-over 71.
In Tuesday’s alternate shot (foursomes) round, all the leaders faltered, but no one in the field could mount a charge. While the Schilps slipped to 8-over for round two, Boudreaux/Schuenke were unable to take advantage of their home course edge and slumped to 12-over finishing third at 9-over 149. Didier/Nahrup jumped into second place with a 5-over second round to finish at 6-over 146.
A year ago, the 2025 Benson Memorial 2-man Open Division at Dalhousie Golf Club went to WingHaven Country Club’s Zach Holland and Adam Tomcich.
In the Net division, Quincy Country Club’s Jim Hansen and Jeff Tweedell rallied from a 5-stroke first round deficit to claim the title. Hansen and Tweedell followed their opening round 3-under 67 with a 2-over second round to finish at 1-under 139, the only duo to finish under par. Westborough Country Club’s Richard Estes and Yaravi Lindo were tied as runners-up at 2-over 142 with Quincy Country Club’s Matt Boudreaux and Brad Keller.
On Monday, Eric Phillips (Westborough Country Club) and Brandin Lowry (Lake Forest Golf & Country Club) smoked the course with an 8-under 62, but couldn’t sustain that momentum through a second day, falling to seventh at 8-over 148.
The opening round provided plenty of contenders as three teams were tied at 2-under 68 including two Quincy Country Club entries: Boudreaux/Keller along with Dennis Boudreaux and Jeff Conn. Westborough Country Club’s Clayton Brown and Mark French also settled in at 2-under. Brown/French finished fourth at 5-over 145, while Boudreaux/Conn slipped to sixth at 7-over 147.
The Open division champions and runners-up qualify for the Jim Jackson Invitational at Algonquin Country Club in October.
