We had a good field for this year’s Hardin Junior Championship as 71 players teed it up at the
beautiful Westborough Country Club. The course was in great shape and the weather was
pretty good except for a few minutes of rain toward the end of Day 2. The course played hard,
but the players survived and we saw some great golf and great winners.
11 & Under
We had a good turnout for this age group this year as 11 players teed it up. This division
plays 9 holes each day and the course played to a little over 2400 yards. First Place goes to
Bodie Patton from The Legends Country Club who shot 40 on Day One and 38 on Day Two.
Bodie edged out Hank Graham from Algonquin Golf Club who shot 40 on Day One and 41 on
Day Two.

Vaughn, Lake Forest Country Club opened up with a 3 over Par 74 while Blake Mueller, Forest

Day 2 and battled it out all day. With the rain falling down on them, Blake birdied 2 of the last 3
holes while Andrew only birdied 1 of the last 3 holes to end the 2nd Day in a tie at 148, 6 over
Par for both days. They then had to head out to Hole #1 for a Hole by Hole playoff in the rain.
They both parred the 1st hole. On the second Hole, Blake ran in a birdie putt to capture the
title.
16-18 Yr. Olds
30 players teed it up in this Division, battling to become the 2024 Hardin Jr Champion, which
played at 5806 Yards Par 68. The First Round leader was Hudson Shy, Bogey Hills Country
Club. Hudson fired a sizzling 66 2 under par. Hudson was the 2023 Hardin Jr Winner in the
14-15 Division and decided to play up this year in the 16-18 Division as a 15 year old. Owen
Walther, was 3 shots back after Round 1, shooting a 69 and Luke Glarner, Bellerive Country
Club and Eddie Rothery, Algonquin Golf Club were 4 back shooting a 70. Four other players
were also in the hunt after the first round. They were Anders Thomas, Forest Hills Country Club,
Mack Freeman, Forest Hills Country Club, Isaac Kelley, Whitmoor Country Club and Braden
Wright Sunset Country Club all shooting 71. Day 2 was exciting. Most of the day there were 5
players all within 3 strokes of the lead. The course got tougher towards the end as the rain was
coming down pretty good. All the players battled the conditions and their nerves in search of
the Hardin Jr Trophy. Anders Thomas shot 66 on Day 2 and was the leader in the ClubHouse
with a 2 Day Total of 137. Thomas and first round leader Hudson Shy were tied going into the
18th Hole. Hudson hit his drive in the Sandtrap on 18, then hit a great shot to the front of the
Green about 18 teet from the Pin. With Thomas and a lot of the players and spectators
watching Hudson needing to make the putt for birdie to win and 2 putt for a playoff, he stepped
up to the putt and drained it in the middle of the cup for a dramatic win! Other notables were
Mack Freeman who shot 68 on Day 2 for a total of 139 finishing in 3rd place. Remy Tyrrell,
Sunset Hills Country Club finished with the low round on Day 2 with a 65.
