Eighteen teams teed it up at Lake Forest Country Club Wednesday afternoon. Fortunately,
the rain departed the area in the morning and Superintendent Matt Seifert did a
spectacular job getting the course ready for our afternoon shotgun start.
In the Professional Division, Bellerive’s Mike Tucker shot a sizzling 5 Under 67 to take
the honors in that Division. Gideon Smith from Quincy finished second at 1 under, and
Lake Forest’s own Craig Wise won a scorecard playoff at even par to finish third.
In the Superintendent competition (utilizing 80% handicap), the Legend’s Matt O’Dell
captured first place with a Net 73. Chad Fetter from Bogey Hills was second, with 75,
and Persimmon Woods’ Rob Ritchey won a scorecard playoff to finish third at 4 over,
beating Westborough’s Tim Allen, Bellerive’s Carlos Arraya, and Meadowbrook’s Mike
Carron.
In the Team Competition (two best balls net) , the Bellerive team of Mike Tucker, Carlos
Arraya, Bill Gladney and Dick Schul ran away with this year’s competition, shooting a
spectacular 18 under 126.
The Norwood team of Ryan Roy, Mike Null, Mike Hartman
and Jack Krings, won a scorecard playoff to finish second at 10 Under 134, beating the
Legends team of Brian Schmersahl, Matt O’Dell, Skip Berkmeyer and Dennis Woods,
at 10 Under, who then beat the Old Hickory team of Brett Moomey, Dave Pini, John
Ricci and Gary Hill.
Thanks to the Lake Forest team, headed by GM Craig Wise, for an outstanding day.
The golf course was very playable despite the rain from the past two days, and the
buffet following play was awesome.
