Twenty-Two teams teed it up at the Legends on Wednesday, June 10, for the Etzkorn Pro-3 Senior
Championship. The weather showed several faces during the day, with the morning starting
out cloudy and a bit breezy. By early afternoon, the winds picked up significantly, and it even
rained on the players in the afternoon wave. (What would the Pro 3 be without some rain!).
The golf course was in spectacular shape for our event.
Two of the 4 Legends teams used their “home town” advantage to take first and second place.
The team of the ageless Don Dupske, Tom North, Bob Osdieck and Asst. Pro Cory Cowsert
shot a blistering 23 under par to capture first place honors.
The Legends team of Matt Iovaldi, Skip Anthony, David Pfeil and Head Pro Brian Schmersahl
recorded an 18 Under score for second place, beating the Bellerive team of Andy Frost, Tom
Schneider, Rick Meyer and Pro Mike Tucker, in a scorecard playoff.
In the Professional event, speaking of blistering, Pro JD Auping (Bellerive) shot a 6 Under
Round of 66 to capture first place honors. The round included an eagle on the Par 5 First hole,
and 5 birdies along the way. Well done! Pro Ryan Roy, from Norwood Hills, finished second
with a 2 Under 70, and Pro Bob Gaus, playing for the Etzkorn team, finished third with a one
under 71. Congrats to all.
Many thanks to the Pro Shop staff headed by Brian Schmersahl, District Rep Skip Berkmeyer,
as well as the grounds crew for hosting this event. Players had a great time and provided a lot
of positive feedback.
And thanks to the Legends Membership, who gave up their course for the majority of the day,
allowing us to have the event.
