Hot and humid were the words of the day as 86 golfers teed it up at Whitmoor’s rain soaked
South Course for this year’s Parent/Child Championship. Included in that number were 8
Ladies of various ages who had a great time playing with their partners. Whitmoor had
received almost two inches of rain on Thursday night, which necessitated the Cart Path Only
rule and added to the already brutal humidity. But everyone had fun and we saw some great
play in the following categories.
13 & Under-Five teams played in this flight, with Quincy Country Club’s Gideon Smith and his
son Jackson shooting a 6 over 78 to claim victory in this age group. Rich and Isa Flores, from
Old Hickory Golf Club were close behind, shooting 79.
14-15 Yr. Olds-Six teams competed in this flight, with Meadowbrook’s Terry and Bryce Schultz
taking the honors, with a 3 over 75. The Lake Forest team of Kyle and Blake Laramie won a
scorecard playoff, to finish second, over St. Louis’ team of Jack and Augie Eisenbeis.
16-17 Yr. Olds-Six teams played in this Division, with the St. Louis team of Jack Eisenbeis,
playing with his other son Mack, winning a scorecard playoff over Norwood’s Scott and Patrick
Holdridge, both shooting 77.
18-23 Yr. Olds-This flight was the smallest, with only three teams competing. Our 2020 and
2021 Champions, David and David Schilp, from Bogey Hills, were in the hunt until a Double
Bogey on their 17th hole led to a two under par 70 to capture this flight. The team of John and
son Joe Wichlenski, from Persimmon Woods, shot a very tidy 71, to finish as the Runner up in
this age group.
24-34 Yr. Olds-16 teams teed it up in this flight, with the Sunset Hills team of Scott and Bryce
Carson winning a scorecard playoff over the Bogey Hills team of Jeff and Jaxon Nagel, both
shooting an even par 72. Bogey’s Bob and Clayton Cissell won a scorecard playoff over
Bogey’s John and Jonathon Prange at one over par 73.
35 Yr. Old +-10 teams played in this division, with 2007 Champions Steve and Alex Maurer,
playing out of Dalhousie Golf Club, finishing at one under par 71, to capture the honors in this
flight. The team of Denny and Steve Osborne, from St. Albans and Bogey Hills, won a
scorecard playoff over the Persimmon Woods team of John Wichlenski and his father, John Sr.,
both carding 76’s.
2022 Salomon Parent/Child Champions-The team of Jason and Owen Spore, from Old
Hickory Golf Club, had a hot streak of four birdies and one bogey on the front nine, and shot
even par 36 on the back nine, to capture this year’s trophy with a three under 69 to win this
year’s championship. Great playing Spores and congratulations!
And, as always, many thanks to the entire Whitmoor membership for allowing us to have one of
their courses on a Friday afternoon. And a big shout out to the entire Whitmoor staff, including
Brian Maine, Director of Golf, Steve Sellmeyer, Superintendent, for getting the course very
playable after all that rain, and the Food and Beverage staff for yet another outstanding meal.
And thanks to all who participated. It was great to see some young ladies playing with their
dads and hope this is a tradition for years to some.
