Landry Goes Back to Back

By August 13, 20202020, Champions, News

Another wild weather day for this year’s Mid-Am. 48 Players teed it up at Sunset Country Club
for this year’s championship. We barely got the entire field onto the golf course, when the siren
blew for lightning in the area at 10:24 am. The lightning and subsequent rain delay lasted 2
hours before the participants got back on the golf course, with several players electing not to
wait it out.
Defending Champion Jason Landry, from Greenbriar Hills CC, didn’t let a long, wet course,
playing 6549 yards, affect his play. He retained his title, shooting a 3 Under Par 68 to capture
this year’s honors, and got to take the trophy home again.

There was a log jam for runner up position. Sean Brennan (Westborough CC),finished second
with a 1 Under 71, as we utilized the USGA Method of breaking ties. Chris Kovach (Old
Hickory) finished third, Pat Riordan (Meadowbrook) fourth, Matt Lewis (Sunset Hills) fifth, and
Ryan Roepke (Westborough) 6th. All these players earned an invite to the Jackson Invitational
in October.
In the Net Competition, Gary Hill (Old Hickory) captured first place, shooting a Net 3 Under 69.
Dean Fitzpatrick (Greenbriar Hills) won a scorecard playoff for second, shooting 71, while
Nathan Holt (Persimmon Woods) finishing third and Andrew Hillin (Greenbriar Hills) finishing
fourth, all with net 71s.
In the new Net Only Division, playing 6208 yards, Matt Nemnich (Old Hickory) shot 73, and
runner up was Jim Loehrer (Olld Hickory) shooting 76.
Congrats to all who played in the event. Special thanks to Ryan Johnson, Head Professional at
Sunset Country Club, and Nick Zerr, Superintendent for hosting this fun event.
And a big shout out to the volunteer crew who went above and beyond in running this year’s
event. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
